Today's Devotional

AS THY DAYS—

He has broken my strength in midcourse; he has shortened my days—Psalm 102:23 (ESV).

Who is sufficient for these things?— 2 Corinthians 2:16 (KJV)

Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God— 2 Corinthians 3:5.

SO SHALL THY STRENGTH BE—

My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness— 2 Corinthians 12:9

Do not be afraid, you worm Jacob, little Israel, do not fear, for I myself will help you," declares the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel— Isaiah 41:14 (NIV)

You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus—2 Timothy 2:1

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work— 2 Corinthians 9:8 (NASB).

About the author and the source

John Ross Macduff (1818–1895) was a Scottish minister, author, and hymnwriter. His monthly devotional, Strength for the Day, took an aspect of strength or weakness for each day and presented Scriptures about it under two headings: AS THY DAYS and SO SHALL THY STRENGTH BE.

J. R. Macduff. Strength for the Day; a daily book in the words of Scripture for morning and evening. London: James Nisbet & Co., 1885.
