Grateful letter - 1516
Introduction
Glarean (Heinrich Loreti) was a Swiss scholar at the time of the Reformation. An enthusiastic humanist, he supervised many younger men at the University of Basel. One of the men he trained was Conrad Grebel, who became a leading Anabaptist. Glarean was also a friend of famed humanist Erasmus and wrote him a grateful letter on this day 5 September 1516.
Quote
“You taught me to know Christ and not only to know him but to imitate him, to honor him and to love him.”
